I've always loved a good roast. But not just any type of roast. The kind of roast that has a bit of a crisp outer edge and leaves a moist and tender middle waiting inside. This pork roast cooked in the air fryer does just that. Every bite literally melts in your mouth, and you're not going to believe how simple this is to make.

The way that the air fryer circulates the air to cook the pork roast perfectly really is magical every single time. The more that I make this simple roast recipe, the more that I want to add it to our weekly meal plan.

You should also try this Instant Pot Keto Pot Roast recipe as well. See what you think about cooking a roast in the Instant Pot versus the Air Fryer!

    Ingredients

Pork roast - I use a 2.5-pound pork roast. Pork roast is a cut of meat from the loin and is often prepared by roasting it in an oven. But I think roasting in an air fryer works even better.

Olive oil - Use a bit of extra virgin olive oil to help hold the salt and pepper on. (or other spices if you decide to add more!)

Kosher Salt & Black Pepper - These two simple ingredients are the main spices that are used. This just shows that the meat is really flavorful on its own.

How To Make Air Fryer Pork Roast

Cooking a pork roast in the air fryer is so simple to do! All you have to do is follow the simple ingredients below to get started.

Step One: Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees and spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.

Step Two: Grab the oil and coat the pork and then add the salt and pepper all over.

Step Three: Put the pork in the air fryer and air fry at 400 for 30 minutes. Once it's time, flip and cook for another 20 minutes of time. Make sure that the internal temperature is showing between 135-140. The temp will rise as it rests.

Step Four: Let the pork roast rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This ensures a juicy pork roast.

    Variations

Seasonings: You can easily add dry rubs, sauces, and other herbs to this pork roast. Any flavors that you're craving, add them. I also think parsley, thyme, onion powder, paprika, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and even chili powder would be great for some spice.

Coconut oil: If you're not a fan of olive oil, you can try coconut oil instead. As long as you have oil to coat the pork, you should be good to go.

Honey: Using a bit of honey helps a dry rub stick to the meat. The carbs are negligible when you use a tablespoon or two divided by many servings.

    Common Questions

How do you check the internal temperature of pork roast?

To check the internal temperature of this dish, you would insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of the meat. This will give you an accurate reading of the temperature in the center, which should be around 140 degrees Fahrenheit for pork before it rests.

What are some ways to use leftover pork?

Once you cook this pork in the air fryer, there are so many ways that you can use the leftovers. Some fast and easy ideas are to have pork sandwiches, or mix some seasoning mixture with the pork and have pork tacos, too.

I've even made some delicious pork nachos as well! Chop the pork, sprinkle over keto tortilla chips of wedges of bell pepper, top with cheese, and bake until hot.

What side dishes pair with air fryer pork roast?

There are so many great options to pair with this protein. As a main dish, pork pairs well with dishes such as roasted root vegetables and cauliflower rice, which provide nuanced flavors to the protein.

Pork also goes well with dishes such as braised cabbage and mashed cauliflower, which add texture and weight to the meal, while still providing balanced flavors to the protein. A big hit is always gravy, but if you're cutting calories, don't forget that steamed veggies or a side salad are all great choices, too.

You can even make the whole meal in the air fryer by pairing with Air Fryer Frozen Brussel Sprouts and Air Fryer Delicata Squash .

Can you make this recipe using different cuts of meat?

You can easily make an air fryer pork loin roast, air fryer pork chops, or other air fryer pork tenderloin recipes as long as you're following the cooking directions and making sure that the internal temperature is appropriate!

How do you store leftover cooked pork?

Make sure that you let the pork cool down completely and then store it in an airtight container in the fridge. This will be the perfect way to ensure that it's as fresh as possible. It should last for up to 7 days.

If you're going not to eat it all before that timeframe is up, make a plan of freezing it so that you can save it for later. Freezing cooked pork is a great way to meal plan and have food ready to thaw and eat with minimal prep required.

    Equipment

    Air Fryer

    Ingredients

    • 2.5 lb pork roast
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon pepper
Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • Preheat air fryer to 400. Spray basket with cooking spray.
    • Rub pork with oil and season with salt and pepper.
    • Place pork into the air fryer basket. Cook for 30 minutes. Flip. Cook an additional 20 minutes or until 135-140 when checked with an internal thermometer. (Because a crust forms on the outside of the pork roast the internal temp will continue to rise 10-15 degrees when resting).
    • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

    Notes

Nutrition: The nutrition facts are for ⅛th of the 2.5lb pork roast.
Pork Temperature: The USDA recommends that whole cuts of pork are cooked to 145. If you air fry your pork until it reaches 145 it will end up at 155-160 and dry. I really recommend removing it from the air fryer at 135-140 and letting it rest for 10 minutes. After that resting time, it should be 145 and very moist.

I do not have an air fryer. What would my other options be? How do I cook in crockpot or oven? Thanks so much!

You can roast pork at 375 for about 60-75 minutes for a 3 lb pork loin. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 140 and then cover it and let it rest to reach 145.
